Warlock Wedlock

We're not saying that Luv Club are prophets, but the description of Christmas day they gave in their last song "Christmas (Angelstyle)" was pretty spot on. Outside there really is a mountain of snow. If this trend of "if you write it, they will come" continues, we could all be in big trouble. Especially since this week's song is about a studly warlock who is having two sexy witches duel it out for the chance to be his bride. If at this time next week you find yourself in a fourth dimension love triangle, you'll only have Luv Club to blame.

Rita

A week before x-mas and the hits just keep coming! We are going to have to try and get ahead of the game in the next few weeks if we don't want to spend x-mas day and new year's day slaving to get the songs done prior to our deadline. Wish us luck! Seriously, say something, ANYthing. We need some feedback.

This week's hit is titled "Rita", make of that what you will. It's a Neil Diamond-esque song. Neil Diamond is cool, and you know it. Plus, songs with ladies names in the title are always a good thing.

Christmas (Angelstyle)

This week's hit is a Luv Club song. We know that when you hear the name Luv Club you think ELECTRICITY! DANCE! SEX! But for this, our x-mas song, we've taken out the first two. It's our first ever acoustic number. And really, without the electricity or the dancing to keep us warm the sex becomes so much more important.

The Bad New Days

Have you ever listened to the radio? Pretty awful, right? Here we are longing for the good old days. Maybe, just maybe, the 2010's will be the new 80's! And to think, this whole song stemmed from a happenstance listening to a Loverboy song on the way home from x-mas shopping.

Art's Free

Clearly we believe that art should be free. Just look at all this free music we're giving you. If blogger wasn't so weird we'd post pictures of all the works of art described in the song. We tried, it was too headache inducing.

Cock Tease

This week's hit is a Luv Club song about sexual frustration. Have you ever been a straight dude trying to bang some chick? Alright, so we don't actually have any firsthand experience with this, but we like to push ourselves as songwriters. We relied heavily on a game of virtual dating to help guide us through the confusing world of hetero dating. We invite you all to take a chance dating Ariane, go ahead, see if you can make her happy! We did all this research for you, our fans, because we're trying to bang you.

She Who Shall Not Be Named

So, you know that Carly Simon song "You're So Vain" and that Alanis Morissette song "You Oughta Know"? People are always trying to figure out just who the "you" in those songs could possibly be. It gives an otherwise mediocre (at best) song a kind of mystique. And it gives the songwriter license to say all kinds of unflattering things about someone they don't really like without having to come out and openly bash that person. Well, this song is about Carly and Alanis. No, just kidding. We actually can't tell you who this raging piece of metal is about. Feel free to speculate.

Oh yeah, and I hope no one took our promise of a Luv Club song this week too seriously. Mink was being a diva and couldn't be coaxed into singing. Perhaps next week.

Elephant Love Song

Electrophants! Maybe you've seen the youtube video of the elephant that's in love with the dog? Well, it makes us cry. Watching it made us want to relearn to love, elephant style. But really, isn't that what love does, makes us so much bigger and mammoth than we ever thought we could be? Elephants are love.

Also, did any of you notice the changes we've made? Our player is different, and hopefully better for streaming. And best of all, you can now download our past, present and future hits FOR FREE. Heart Tax

This week sucked. We both got colds and had zero inspiration. Scot finished the music for the song on Wednesday night and left it on the computer for me to listen to and formulate lyrics for on Thursday. I listened to it a few times through, but had nothing. I decided to take a break and go to the mall and do some Halloween costume shopping instead. I hate malls, but a store like Hot Topic seems to be a necessary evil when shopping for a fluffy neon tulle Cyndi Lauper skirt. All that shopping made me wish I had a sugar daddy to buy me countless pairs of paint splattered tights and arm fulls of glittery bangals. This song is written from the perspective of the poor, poor over taxed sugar daddy.

The inspiration seems to be returning as we are already settled on next weeks hit being about elephants in love! Elephants so big they could crush you to death, but they'd rather get a crush on you instead.

A Tumble

It's Fall! But it's a rather cold fall so far. We're burning song lyrics to keep warm. With all the news reports about sickness and predictions that this is going to be the coldest winter ever, SAAS Backward decided to write a fun, surf tinged piece of poptacular tunage. Kinda like the B52's vs. H1N1...maybe that should have been the title of the song. Think of this song as a flu vaccine that you can take auditorily! Anyway, it's a love song that draws upon autumnal imagery. Screw Spring, FALL is for lovers.

LadyLand

This week's hit is a Luv Club song. After a lifetime of doing two things: watching erotic thrillers and listening to divas sing their hearts out, Luv Club decided it was time for them to add their own strong lady ballad (with a twist!) to the cannon. The resulting song turned out to be much too powerful for any woman to actually ever sing, so we had to go with the next best thing and have Mink sing it. We also got assistance with the song from some boys that we snared at the local Pizza Hut and forced to put down their taco pizza and deliver some sass. If you believe in the power of The Lady, enjoy a good timpani solo or want a song to groove to while cuddling in your pink breast cancer awareness snuggie check out LadyLand.

Listening tip: this song sounds GREAT when played in tandem with the Luv Club song "Viola Knowledge" which is available on our myspace page.

Circuit Breaker

Last weekend Scot and Ann were driving when a Roxette song came on the radio. Inspiration soon took hold. Couple this with the band's longstanding love of the band Foreigner, and it only makes sense that a power ballad was at long last conceived. Dim the lights, draw yourself a bath, look sullenly through a rain spattered windowpane and enjoy this power's out ballad.

Knight Klub

This week's song is premature! And a little bit immature. That's right, it's a Luv Club song. One about clubbing! Bad clubbing. Like, have you ever been at a night club and known for sure that you were the smartest person in the room? Not to jump to conclusions or be judgmental, but you just feel like you're surrounded by the kind of people who would purposely spell words wrong becuz they think itz kewl to be badd at grammar and spelling? And you can tell all this just by what the people are wearing/drinking/dancing like? Maybe not, but listen anyway.

Down Clown

As promised, we've produced a clown song this week and with little time to spare. No clowning around for Scot and Ann this Friday night. In writing this song, it struck us that maybe being a clown isn't always so much fun. It seems like it might be a pretty thankless job. And we wonder, to a clown, does it always feel like someone else's birthday?

Crazy Face

The first song is done with time to spare, phew! It's more of a ditty than a song. And most specifically, a kitty ditty. We have this cat whose cuteness can only be matched by his cruelty. He's real mean, but we love him to death. And what genre of music is best suited to tell the tale of a love that actually physically hurts so bad? Country, of course.

Hope you all enjoy our first hit submission! As for next week, we've got clowns on the brain. Sad, sad clowns.

Project Introduction

Project goal: Post a hit song a week for one year.

Definition of a week: Seven days. Our weeks will run from Saturday-Saturday, making the deadline for each week Saturday @ 12am CST.

Definition of a hit: Songs that are musically dynamic, lyrically stunning and overall provocative. Basically, a song so sonically tasty that it causes ones ears to develop an insatiable hunger for it.

Project rules: All songs must be the original work of the contributors. No previously recorded or cover songs will be posted.

The contributors: Scot Adams & Ann Stubbendeck. Both are currently involved with two bands, SAAS Backward and Luv Club. Song postings will be made under the name of one of the two bands. SAAS Backward consists of just Scot and Ann, Luv Club has additional members. Songs will only qualify for project postings if both Scot and Ann have contributed to them in a major way.
